Enjoy Biking through Rome in the Evening

Enjoy an evening Rome cycle tour as you watch the sunset and visit historic areas. There's no need to be an expert cyclist, but knowing how to ride and a having some stamina are necessary. Join the fun on two wheels for a guided tour of Rome's highlights.

Your Rome cruise tour begins near the Colosseum. Cycle past the Circus Maximus, an ancient Roman chariot racing stadium, as you ride up the hill to the Garden of the Oranges and eventually end up in the Keyhole of Rome. An ancient fortress, the Garden of the Oranges offers fantastic views of the many monuments, roof tops, and domes of Rome. The Keyhole of Rome is located in the Garden of "Consiglio di Malta." When you look through the "keyhole," the dome of St. Peter's in the Vatican can be seen from several miles away.

Next, cycle along a river that connects downtown Rome with the Vatican. Riding here is essential to your Rome experience and is an easy way to avoid the noise and traffic of the city. With the breeze and stunning views, cycling along the river is truly one of the most pleasant places to ride in all of Rome.

Continue with your friendly guide to tour the Augustian monument, which was commissioned by the Roman Senate on 4 July 13 BC but remains in excellent condition. The altar was intended to be representative of the Roman civil religion.

Your next stop is Pincian Hill. Tour its quaint parks and gardens, the perfect place for a leisurely bike ride. When you get to the top, look out over the Vatican and enjoy the beautiful views of that city within a city.

Lastly, visit the Trevi Fountain, where you'll stop to admire this Baroque masterpiece. Standing 85.3 feet high and 65.6 feet wide, it is known as the largest Baroque fountain in the city and as well as one off the most famous fountains in the world. Throw a coin in the fountain to make your wish come true. Continue to the Spanish Steps, built in between the Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Trinita dei Monti at the base of the stairs and the Trinita dei Monti Church at the top. Because your Cycling Rome Tour is at night, fewer people will be visiting this popular area, giving you a more intimate experience. The entire distance of the tour is 12 km, so be sure to dress appropriately. For a different perspective on sightseeing in Rome, grab a bike and join the fun.

Please Note: This tour takes place in Rome. Guests on ships docking in Civitavecchia will need to make their own way to Rome from Civitavecchia (approximately 50 miles away) at their own expense. There is train service from nearby train stations, and the average trip takes approximately 90 minutes each way. Your cruise ship may offer a shuttle to a nearby station.
